Geir Harald Samuelsen

BIO


Geir Harald Samuelsen is a visual artist and researcher based in Oslo and Bergen. Working across painting, photography, and sound, his practice explores embodied perception, materiality, and historical resonance—often in dialogue with prehistoric traces and landscape. He has exhibited at institutions such as Amos Rex (Helsinki), Henie Onstad Art Center, and Trondheim Art Museum, and has received numerous awards and grants, including funding from the Norwegian Artistic Research Program for the project Matter, Gesture and Soul. Samuelsen holds a PhD in artistic research from Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (NTNU), and is currently Associate Professor and Research Leader at the Art Academy – Department of Contemporary Art, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen.
