Geir Harald Samuelsen (b. 1969, Halden) is a visual artist and researcher based in Oslo and Bergen. Working across painting, photography, text and sound, his practice explores embodied perception, materiality, and historical resonance—often in dialogue with prehistoric traces, landscape, and the sublime. He has exhibited at institutions such as Amos Rex (Helsinki), Henie Onstad Art Center, Trondheim Art Museum, Kunstnerforbundet, and Galleri Wang. Samuelsen holds a PhD in Artistic Research from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (NTNU) and is Associate Professor at the Art Academy – Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen. He is the initiator of the international artistic research project Matter, Gesture, and Soul, funded by the Norwegian Artistic Research Program and UiB.
